Welcome to Adyghea!
Travelling Tours in the Nothern Caucasus

Adyghea is situated on the picturesque slopes of the Caucasian Range, in the Kuban and Laba river valleys, near the Black and Azov seas. The Adygh peoples are well - known all over the world as Circassians.

The tiny republic abounds in landscapes of breath - taking beauty, with majestic mountain peaks, roaring streams born of glaciers, virgin woods-wildlife’s paradise, fertile soil, and a delightful mild climate. A stunning combination of unique landscapes, mild climate, mineral springs, flora and fauna, exotic nature and wildlife preserves create unique conditions for tourism.

Adyghea is popular with both downhill racers and recreational skiers. The slopes of the Lago-Naki plateau, snow-clad from October to April, are so various that both amateurs and professional Alpine skiers will find suitable routes. The local mountains also attract gliders.

The Caucasian horse-riding itinerary is one of Russia’s oldest. The most popular of the many mountain hiking treks is ¹ 30. It stretches from Maikop to Sochi on the Black sea coast via Northwest Caucasian passes. The roaring Belaya river is canoe-rowers’ dream, with popular Inter-Rally contests. Spelunking is also well - developed. Adyghea has close on 130 caves. The Big Azish is well - lit and has comfortable stairways.

The Republic of Adyghea is a land wrapped in historical legends. The Great silk Road, linking Europe with Asia, passed through the country in the Middle Ages. Many historical and cultural landmarks of different epochs are among Adyghea’s most interesting sights. Dozens of adjacent burial mounds and the mysterious dolmens, typical only of the Northwestern Caucasus, are open-air museums.

Virgin nature is Adyghea’s most precious treasure. Forests cover almost 40 percent of the republic’s territory. Oaks, beeches, horn beams, ash-trees, maples, Caucasian silver firs, spruces and pines grow in the mountains, while poplars, elms, willows and limes decorate the valleys.

The local wildlife has 60 mammal and 200 bird species: aurochs, deer, Kuban goats, North Caucasian chamoises, bears, lynxes, wild boars, wild goats, hares, foxes, wolves, pheasants, quails, blackbirds, wild ducks and turtle doves.

The republic has considerable reserves of raw materials for production of cement, lime and glass. The deposits of building, facing and semiprecious stones are located in Adyghea’s mountainous regions. Maikop’s clay has remarkable properties which allow for production of tile, glazed tile, ceramic sewer-pipes, Mettlach tiles and faience (a type of glazed earthenware). In addition, the republic has high-quality limestone.

The republic’s major industry is the food industry. Agricultural produce is widely assorted and ecologically clean. Favorable climatic conditions and fertile soil allow for cultivating various cereals and crops such as wheat, barley, corn, rape, rice, sunflower and many scent and oil-bearing plants. The republic takes pride in its tea, which is grown farther north than any other in the world, and is very popular with connoisseurs.

…Ask the sun and the dawn.

But you’d better see yourself-

Better to see once than hear a hundred times.

Just come and be a welcome guest.
